Madison (Wisconsin's State capitol), only 25 miles north of New Glarus always has something to do. Take your family to one of the last free zoos in the country.
Mt. Horeb (Little Norway), just 20 minutes away where you can take in the Cave of the Mounds, Mustard Museum, and ski or snowboarding at Tyrol Basin.
Monroe, 15 miles away, is rich in it's cheese making heritage. Visit one of the many cheese plants in Green County and take home some of the great tasting cheeses. In June there is the World Honda Grand Prix/Monroe Balloon Rally. Cheese Days in September offers 3 days of festivities held on even numbered years.
Also just a short drive away is the Train Museum in Argyle, Frank Lloyd Wright's,The House on the Rock, and The Outdoor Shakespearean American Players Theatre in Spring Green. In Blanchardville Yellowstone State Park is located with it's 455 acre lake for swimming, fishing, sking or hiking on the 17 miles af trails within the park.
